Would you like to help provide people nighttime shelter during the cold months?
Would you be interested in joining members of Troy Downtown-Area Churches and Joseph’s House & Shelter in their efforts to do just that?
Every night up to 15 guests of Joseph’s House, accompanied by a staff member and at least one, preferably two, volunteers sleep overnight in a local church hall to make space at our busy shelter. If you are available for a few over-night shifts between November 12, 2018 through April 11, 2019, please get in touch. You need to be available between the hours of 9:30PM and 7:30AM. Beds and linens are provided, and guests are encouraged to play cards or a game, or chat with our guests, over a snack. If you cannot stay overnight, you can also support the program by providing snacks.
On the coldest nights, the off-site emergency shelter is especially important because it means we more space for Code Blue guests at our Ferry Street shelter. Contact Janet Douglass, 518-272-2544 email@example.com for more information about “Inn From the Cold”, a volunteer program providing temporary additional shelter in space supplied by downtown Troy Churches during the coldest 5 months of the year.
